Threats to kill area police allegedly made
Bond was set Wednesday at $125,000 for a former Southwestern Oklahoma State University student from Saudi Arabia who allegedly threatened to kill two Weatherford police officers.
The suspect is Maitham Mohammed Alshaikh, 23. He was arraigned Wednesday on a single felony charge of planning, conspiring, and/or endeavoring to perform an act of violence. The charge indicates he threatened on or about July 1 to shoot Sgt. Joseph Cox and Assistant Police Chief Josh Van DeBurgh.
Associate District Judge Jill Weedon, who set his bond, ordered that he wear an ankle monitor so police can keep up with his whereabouts if he makes bail. She also set a curfew for him, directing that he not be out between the hours of 9 p.m. and 8 a.m.
