Deputy shoots dog that tried to attack him

Charges were being prepared Wednesday against a man who allegedly tried to sic a German shepherd dog onto a Beckham County sheriff’s deputy.
The deputy, Jason Atwood, was able to shoot the dog and kill it without getting bit, said Undersheriff Jeff Bilbo.
Deputy Atwood had responded to a 911 call late Tuesday afternoon about a possible drunk driver eastbound on Interstate 40 at Sayre, said Bilbo. The possible drunk driver, and apparently the dog’s owner, was Danny Hillis, 58, of Hollis.
